Severe oxidation- advice

I've got a 80's Firebird to do this week that has some of the worst oxidation I've seen. It is (was) red. The last and only gloss restorer I used was AM GS-1 and I don't have connections with AM distributor anymore. Would Meg's Color X be what I'm looking for? Or would I just be better off starting with #84 and a wool pad and working from there? I can get Car Brite and Pro products also if anybody has experience with thier color restorers.

Does Pro still sell Power Pak? That was one of my favorite cleaners. It work great with our old-school orbital and was eaasy to remove. If you can get your hands on that, it might be a start.

Check out the pictures just below the engines on this page. That is AIO at work there. Whenever I get a car with severe oxidation I bust out the AIO and PC. I've never met oxidation that AIO couldn't handle. I've got several examples like that, but that truck is a good one. It is at least as old as the Firebird. You don't need an abrasive to clean oxidation. A good paint cleaner like AIO works great.

I've also had good luck removing severe oxidation with Meguiar's Medallion Paint Cleaner. It wouldn't surprise me if the ColorX would well too.

If the oxidation is really severe, and you have a Car Brite dealer around, and you are comfortable with using a rotary, you could try some of there Universal Cutting Creme. However, I'd try the others first.

For oxidated surfaces, I like using Einszett Ultra Paint Polish. Easy to use and works very well. Follow with Paint Polish. Good luck.
