Service Pricing

Hi:

I would never have a sign out front at shows your pricing. That's like playing a game of poker and showing your hand before the flop. Let people know who you are first. (i.e. let them know that you are a contractor in the neighborhood) Landscapers do it, pavers do it, pool companies do it etc.

People who are passing by in the neighborhood that are curious will know that you are a detailer will formulate a conclusion in their head....(Maybe I should get mine done? Mobile detailing, that's cool!)

Business Name

(description if necessary)

Phone #

Website Address

Keep it simple. The rest comes down to your sales abilities. Additionally, when you bait a customer for the "low prices" (i.e. detailing prices starting at $49.99!) You are limiting your ability to get customers who are willing to pay for a high quality service. Unless you plan on doing serious volume keep pricing as far from "standard" as possible.

My Question: What would be a NORMAL Fee for said Service Of

Dress Tires

Wipe Door jambs

Clean Windows & Mirrors

One day while doing a customers car, a Lady passed by w/ child, child read my sign that stated SPECIAL: Wash & Wax $25.00 Car Only No interior work,Mother said that was sill to HIGH, I laughed. So how much would you charge is my question? I hand wash/dry car and use foam gun, clean outside glass, clean wheel well, wheels and tires and dress tires and then wax. Most people charge $25.00 just to wash.

For an ONR wash I charge $15. I only offer that only at special events. I recently did an ONR wash and interior detail on a Hummer H1 and charged $200.

So would it be better to price by the hour example $20.00 per hour wash/Dry

$25.00 per hour Clay

$30.00 perhour wax/sealant

or make a package offer (if possible show examples/charts or list)

packages...and keep them simple....

I really like my layout and how I have it setup...

choose one = X

wash/wax

one step

two step

perfection

choose one = Y

light interior

full interior

choose two, one from each...that give you X+Y = price

Never offer prices for "claying" people might not fully understand what that is, and NO CUSTOMER should ever feel "dumb" for not knowing what a service is.

Call it what it is, paint decontamination or paint cleaning.

You can upsell from a wax to a sealant because it lasts longer, anyone will want something that lasts longer.

And tell them that you "clay" to decontaminate the surface before waxing, and that also allows the wax to bond better and last longer. Not to mention the surface will feel like glass!

Any customer will say of course, make it last as long as you can, and all of a sudden your wash and wax turned into a wash, clay, wax, and you can charge an extra $55!

And remember you can clay after you wash while it is still wet, so it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes, then waxing shouldn't take more than 20 minutes, so realistically, you can wash, clay, wax all within an hour if you're set up and ready to go.

And wash is $25, clay is $20 (but you call it decontaminating), and wax is $30, there you go, a $75 detail can be completed within an hour, and the customer will have a properly cleaned and waxed vehicle.

And you just made $75/hour.

I've been there and done that, claying is not a good term for customers, decontaminating IS! Once the customer knows what you're going to DO, then you can tell them the process, which includes claying. That way you're explaining what it is before they even hear the word!

I prefer just one published price so people know what to expect. Potential customers will ask you what you offer and take it from there.

If I published only a $25 wash and wax, I'd expect low-end cars with impatient customers just looking to have the dirt blown off them. "Hurry, hurry, I have to get back to work" That Ferrari or Lamborghini owner may never find me.

If I published only a $675 correction. I doubt most of my day would be spent talking to someone trying to get puke off of the back seat carpet of their Kia for $45.

I've never been a fan of the service menu's and add-ons. This is a visual art, skill is required to do it correctly.

You know what you are worth, price accordingly.

How are you ashing, claying, and waxing in under an hour?

I could see that if you'd previously done said person's car, but most people's cars have never been clayed before and take a crap load of time to get the contaminents off.
