post up if you're planning to attend the 2012 SEMA show!

I havent seen a thread for this years show in the forum, and was wondering if 3D would be there.

Plans are almost set in stone, and I'll likely be staying at the Luxor this year.

The transit shuttle to/from the motels for FREE, if you're attending the show, was a HUGE help!

lets get a list and maybe share a few bits of contact info via PM.

I'm booked downtown at the Plaza. SEMA has a shuttle bus available. Now to finance this trip , all those that would like to contribute to my trip may PM me for details lol.

I had planned on going but decided that attending the NXTi class made more sense. Two trips so close together is not in the budget so I'm out this year. :(

I should add Thomas Dekany and Barry Theal will be at Excalibur too as well as David Fermani if he is coming.

So ya, the 3 Stooges will be at Excalibur.. :chuckle:

Now guys, don't give any of those Hollywood folks any "material" for the next installment of the Hangover!! LOL!

Paul, SEMA's only in Vegas, I dunno about any other events.

Does SEMA or any other detail event take place in Chicago or Milwaukee? I've only seen west coast events so far.

The International Carwash Association puts on the Car Care World Expo every couple of years in Chicago, but after Labor Unions win out in court again, it looks like they are withdrawing from Chicago in 2013.

Chicago loses Car Care expo to Vegas - Chicago Tribune

Ya, I remember that last time we did a show in Chicago. The booth setup and breakdowns were required to be done by unions employees and where 5 times more costly than any other show. It cost us $75 just to change a light bulb. Two union guys had to come out. One to put the bulb in and one to hold the ladder. Oh it was a 2 hour wait for them to come. Could of reach up and changed the bulb ourselves in 30 seconds.

(Sorry for the change in topic.)

how about photos from SEMA 2011 to get you excited?

maybe a few videos too? YES!

Thanks Chris. It isn't like I need any more reasons to start getting excited for SEMA. We have the rental car booked and will be booking the flight and hotel next week when we can nail down our schedules.

Lucky. :errf:

We stay down at Fremont in kinda lame hotels with a blast of stale cigarette fragrance when we enter the building. We enjoy the freak show that is Fremont St. and are hardly at the hotel, so we go cheap. As a bonus, we'll be on Fremont for Halloween if our trip pans out. Freaks galore! :becky: The money we save on rooms goes towards some nice buffets and In & Out Burger! Historically, we've done SEMA week for $500-600 per person for the week for all expenses, including the rental racer and souveneirs.

We are trying to book Monday to Saturday so we have plenty of time to see and do everything. Last year we cut it short by a day (and had the wives with), so some things were 'rushed'. Hopefully, there are some gatherings after the show like the 3D/HD party last year so people have a place to mingle.

I couldnt pass on the deal at the Luxor... round trip flights and motel was under $1100 total for me and the wife.

A few years ago we stayed at the Plaza, which wasnt bad, but didnt like the food they offered. Last year was at Circus Circus... quite a smell to remember.

We plan to hit "Todai" in planet hollywood at least 1 night. I think the group might do another dinner at one of the Buffets, was it the Venetian last year? I was staggering with blisters for that dinner last year, so I dont quite remember which place it was.

same plans for the stay as you have listed... fly in Monday and fly out Saturday.

Chris

How bad was the Plaza ? They told me it was just remodeled. Paid 58 dollars a night except 95 on Saturday. You are the only one who claims to have stayed there. Did I screw up ? I was at the Hilton last year and even though its really close the rooms were nothing to brag about. I stayed at the Luxor a few yrs ago but wasn't impressed. The MGM was OK but I'm open to other ideas.

howdy paul,

it was 2008 and the basic room we have booked was accidentally double booked, so they bumped us up to a suite in the south? tower. The room was clean and the view was nice.

seemed like the room was locked in time from around 1992.

having the access to the nighttime shows on Fremont was nice! When we had our feel of the night and foot traffic, it was just a short walk to the room. *instead of the need to ride the Duce Bus back to the motel*

for that price, and you stating they just finished a remodel; it's well worth that price!

still would be wary of the food selection though.

2005 stayed at New Orleans hotel & Casino.

The rooms there were nice... window to view the strip from the shower and I thought the food there was excellent!!!

*I remember eating at the buffet for one meal and the hibachi grill another night.*
