SD card storage capacities

Those numbers are going to be off depending on how big you save your images. The larger the picture, the less the number of pictures you can hold and vice versa.

I think Johnny is referring to the jpeg compression level that you use. The Canons at least, allow you to pick from three compression settings in addition to the picture size (MP's).

Probably, my 4MP camera with the 256 xD card on the highest settings holds around 160ish, so 130 isn't to far off.

Yes I was referring to JPEG compression levels, sorry for not including that. Canon and every other digital camera I've seen has a least 2 options, most have 3 though for JPEG compression level settings. Once you start shooting in RAW or TIFF those image numbers are going to drop significantly, as there image size is way bigger then JPEGs.

The range of colors in the pictures will also make a difference?

A picture of something at night will be mostly dark, while a picture of chameleon paint with metallic flake will have more range...

Or is that what you guys are already talking about?

That's a good point.

But regardless, I was assuming that the numbers stated are how many images a camera could store at the highest possible size it can create.

It is off somewhat for my 2.1MP camera though. I can only get about 50-55 usually.
