ScratchX will be the end of me...

I am in the process of doing the WHOLE car with scratchx by hand.... I think i am going to die in the process :scared: Any tips on applying this stuff??? I think i have an idea but any tips would be great.

I would pity someone doing a truck or a large vehicle.... you would need some bionic arm to do it :grinno:

Scratch X is actually a nice product BUT it's not the magic bullet for removing marring - you will need to apply several times with some elbow grease. Use a foam applicator for small stuff and a cotton terry towel if you need more bite. Contrary to what several people may say, Scratch X does have functional mechanical abrasives, but it just requires some patience.

Edit: Remove while it is still wet/moist...it is a pain in the rear to remove if you let it dry (think concrete...)

Yea but if you let it dry it works a lot better (from what I did). Yea it is a pain if anything just get as much of it as you can off, then wash your car again and wipe it'll be great. I did scratch X by hand it removed alot of fineswirls for me.

Meguiars does not recomend letting scratch X dry, you remove the product while it is still wet.

I think the name ScratchX is misleading; it should be called SwirlX, or something like that, because it's really not very useful for removing "scratches".

yeah i agree scratch x is a misleading name....something like "mild swirl remover?" is more like it

dont let it dry....concentrate on a small patch and be prepared to take 3 or more goes at each section...and you do have to work at it, its not wipe on -wipe off

if you have anything other than very light swirls , you may be better to use something stronger and follow up with scratch x

theres lots of info on megsonline forum about it

Well after doing basically the whole car it seems to have worked.... It doesn't remove scratches or anything but makes them much less noticable and same goes for swirls. Just the elbow grease and work involved is horrible... But the results are good. I then washed the car, dried it and applied eagle one nano spray and it looks great.

Really...hmm I didn't leave it on that long to "dry" i left it on for 5 minutes. I didn't mean dry time for wax, I meant enough time for it to settle in more, but Hmmm I see.
