Scratches!! ordering orbital and products

Hey everyone,

I've finally decided to go ahread and order the PC and all the products I need. Right now I've been using P21S wax. My plan is to wash the car with dawn, clay, use the PC to remove swirls and scratches, and then apply Zaino.

Recently I got these scratches on the car. I was planning on using meguiars no 9 all over to remove the light straight scratches and few swirls that I do have. Is this the right product to use since they are very light scratches. I didn't think I would need 3M FI II. Would the meguiars no 9 remove these scratches in the pic? I'm just not sure what will do the job :(

Here is my shopping list:

Porter Cable Accessory Kit: 6 inch Velcro back-up plate
Porter Cable Accessory Kit: 6 inch Yellow Cutting Pad
Porter Cable Accessory Kit: 6 inch White Polishing Pad
Porter Cable Accessory Kit: Pkg/2 6 inch Terry Bonnets
Meguiar’s No. 9 Swirl Remover
Meguiar's Final Inspection
Ultimate Wipe 16" x 16"
Ultimate Bonnet 6.5" dia.
Mother’s clay bar
Orbital $109 at Lowe’s

Do you think I need anything else? Any other pads? Or swirl removing products?

Thanks.

From what i can see in the pic they look pretty deep, i don't think FI2 and the PC will remove them, some wet sanding and a rotary may. Can you feel the scratches with your fingernail? If you can they probably can't be removed.

No I can't feel anything with my fingernail. They are really very light. The pic makes them look much worse than they really are. I am guessing they are just clearcoat scratches that's why I didn't even know if I need FI2. What do you guys think?

OK good it was just the pic then.:) If they are as light as you say than #9 may remove them, if not try 3M's SMR, it's stronger than #9 but not as strong as FI2. If the 3M SMR works your finished if not than you can go for the FI2.

Ok that's what I'll do. I added 3M SMR to the order. Thanks Andre'.

I have some P21S paintwork cleanser (came with the kit). Would it be bad to use it before putting on the Zaino? I heard good things about it.

It would be fine to use before Zaino, but remember any time you use a polish before Zaino you must wash the vehicle with Dawn before you use Zaino to remove the oils from the polish, this will help Zaino to bond to the finish correctly. :)
