Scratched Stainless Steel

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to fix scratches on a stainless steel exhaust tip?

I was installing my new exhaust this afternoon and one of the exhaust hangers slipped. I was able to catch the pipe but the tip tilted down and scraped against the sidewalk a little. Now there are little pits and marks on the nice polished surface where it hit the ground.

I know its not something any liquid can fix, should I wet sand it then buff with a metal polish or use a steelwool and buff with a metal polish?

They're not that bad but you can feel them with your finger nail. I think if I polished it up you'd still be able to see the pits.

I think it needs to be lightly wet sanded or something to reduce the pits but will a metal polish remove the sanding marks?

Well, again, it's hard to tell how bad the scratch is, how how bad the sanding marks will be. The coarse HMP is like using liquid sandpaper. I've done some great cleanup and polishing with the HMP line.

However, stainless is a very hard metal. Hard to tell if it will work or not.

the best way to try and fix them is to first remove them and use a high speed bench polisher with a polish. If you can feel it with your finger nail it may not completely come out but it can get better:)
