I checked around on here and didn't find what you use for a wash medium with ONR.. I'm curious to know, I'm considering a proline grout spong but not completely sold on it.

Tried grout sponges, don't like them at all. I use microfiber covered foam pad to wash.

I agree 100%. I personally prefer the Target vroom brand since they are white and easy to see dirt on.

I've never had any use for any type of sponge for washing cars, always preferred a MF or wool mitt. After trying the grout sponge I found I preferred it for rinseless washes over anything else I tried. It rinses cleaner and doesn't seem to capture the residue that resulted with other methods. I'm going to have to give the MF-covered sponge a try though.

Scott,

This is what I use for ONR washes, and regular washes. Although I designate 2 of them specifically for ONR washes. They are from Wal-Mart. Truth be told they hold more water, feel much softer, and last longer than the Cobra Microfiber mitts I have purchased before. After my first time using them, I designated my Cobra microfibers to wheel duty.

I have the softest clear know to man. I have a 2011 BMW 550i with carbon black paint. I've watched a new sheepskin mitt marr my clear using a two bucket method. I watched a brand new super soft microfiber towel marr the clear. The only thing I found that does not marr the clear is a grout sponge.

My wash method is basically no touch. I pre rinse with a pressure washer and regular water. I then use DI water with ONR and a grout sponge. I go over each panel and then rinse with DI water connected to the pressure washer. At the end, I blowdry with a leafblower.

The only thing that touches my clear during a wash is a grout sponge.

I've actually experimented washing half of my trunk with a grout sponge and the above method and the other half with a new sheepskin mitt. The sheepskin side had light random marring.

Using the above method, my car looks awesome. Its been a year since I started doing it this way.

Opti-mitt is good

That's what I use, and I highly recommend it. Don't know anything about the Schmitt.

My Opti-Mitt has only been through maybe two dozen washes at the most, but it seems to be holding up fairly well. I clench my fist inside the mitt to squeeze out excess wash, which has started to bore a hole through the mitt at my pinky – my mistake, totally – but I'm careful not to make it worse.

That is insane, I think I'll pass on Carbon Black

i've been using a grout sponge from Lowes on my BMW since it was new in 2009, works perfectly on the Black Sapphire paint with two bucket method. I just got a foaming cannon and maybe it will help even more for the pre-soak?

What about Lake Country Foam Car Wash Sponge? This is the blue one with the squares---how is this sponge with ONR?
