Scotchguard / 303 - Fabric Protectants

Has anyone found a fabric protectant that worked ? I've tried 303 on 2 seperate occasions but I found it was okay....didn't really hold well in terms of durability and stains did get through. Then again, my carpet is beige and it shows easily.



Never did see Scothguard in my local shops, but while picking up some air freshner today at Autozone, there was a bottle of Scothguard. I just took the carpets out and cleaned them really well and just waiting it for it to dry before applying the Scotchguard. Time will tell if this holds up

i have heard good things about scotchgaurd. usually you can pick some up in carpet/rug stores or in house cleaning sections of walmart.:xyxthumbs try it out and let us know how it works. good luck

scotchgaurd is good stuff but 303 is scotchguard on steroids. much more powerfull. if the 303 did not do good for you then the scotchguard wont either. you must make sure that whatever you are treating has nothing on it. you must wash it in mild soap with no bleach or other type of products that will leave a trace element. if you use 303 cleaner then there fabric guard i think you would be happy. remeber that no matter what product you use it will wear out faster with more use. friction is the number one killer of fabric guards. if you call 303 direct and tell them you were not happy with there product they will talk to you in detail and explain how to use it correctly and will send you a free bottle to use. i had the same problem and called them and they were great. they sent me the cleaner as well as the guard. i did it like i was told and it worked great. and for them sending me the stuff for free they got one more loyal customer . good luck.

I agree on the 303 Fabric Gaurd...lets see if I can remember how it goes again.



90% preparation, 5% product the balance is in the 'guy' of the beholder....

Can't speak for the 303 product as I've not personally used it but I have, and continue to use Scotchguard with good results. Like others have said, prep is key. Also, re-treatment every year will help ensure consistent, maximum protection.



I've seen Scotchguard save cloth seats from disaster first hand. That experience along with the low cost and easy application make it a staple in my regiment.



Just be sure to use it outdoors with all windows/door open and try not to stay in the vehicle to long for any stretch. The fumes can gag a horse if you stay in it too long. I usually do one seat and it's carpeted floor area, take a few minutes to do something else then come back and do the next area.

I've been happy with the 303 product...but then I don't spill on my carpet much (ever?).
