Yeah probably a couple thousand. But, it wasn't worth that kind of investment! Aside from the leatherique which was about $225 as I recall and a $10 junkyard powermast the rest was done with the materials on hand. The mechanic cost of course and I could have done that myself but time was a constraint.
 
No problem. These guys earn their money but for a car only worth a few grand, paying a pro was not in the cards.
 
hmmm how bad was the metal parts of the engine? the reason I ask is because my brother's protege I tried hitting with TAW and it got the dirt off, but there's rust and oxidation starting to set in and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it...but that engine is crazy blingy (or does it settle down after it dries?....is that dry?)

Totally dry. I used a variety of brushes. On the raw metal, mainly a brass brush.
 
I am used to spending time under the hood, this is the engine in my Cobra with 33,000 miles on it so I drove it......

Thanks David, I have seen your work so I take that as a compliment. Seems to me you helped me decide what products to use on the paint.
 
Wow, that's nice to know. I'm flattered that you consider my opinion. The engine in the Cobra looks immaculate. Well done.
 
NP David. I was just noticing your avatar, Italian colors, "The Perfection", nice. My wife is Italian and we got to spend some time over there and visit her family. Most live in the area around L'Aquila that was so hard hit by the earthquake not so long ago. Fortuniately, none of them was killed.
 
Been there a dozen or so time. My wife is from Abruzzi and both of our parents were born there. I miss the food, people and shopping!!
