Sap on Glass

A while back, I asked for help removing small sap drops from my entire vehicle (looks like mist or dew). Using methyl alcohol and my PC 7424 (with SFX polishes), I managed to remove all sap from the paint. My problem, however, remains on the glass. For example, in sunlight, my windshield has all these tiny bright specs--the sap reflects/refracts the light.



I tried the methyl alcohol, a clay bar, a Mr. Clean abrasive sponge, gasoline, WD-40 and Goo-Gone, all without luck. It's almost like the drops bonded to the glass.



What damage could the PC do to the glass, if any? I'm not considering running a medium to abrasive pad with polish on the windshield. If this fails, I really have no idea what to do. New windshield? :)
 
Zaino makes an abrasive glass polish that pretty much takes off anything. Might want to give it a shot. Smells good, too.

What pad and speed do you recommend for use with Zaino?
 
If the methyl didn't remove it, which always works for me, try a razor blade with a clay like lube. Go at about 30 degrees on a small area with very little pressure. As long as the blade is flat against the glass it won't scratch.



If you still have spots you might have to polish, to see if that helps.
 
I also used it by hand and used some good elbow grease.



The razor blade would be a good idea to use first, then go over it with a applicator and zaino polish to get it lookin' new.

You sound like you're afraid to polish the glass. It's a lot harder than any paint. Give it your most abrasive combo that you have for your PC (just mask off any sensitive trim/cowling/wiper arms) and see what that does. Heck, another windshield thread people were recounting 0000 steel wool on glass with no problems, so don't be afraid of paint polish and pads.
 
I have just finished removing sap from a car. For the glass, I used WD-40....let stand for about 10 mins, then scraped off with a razor blade. Worked great! Needed to wash car again to remove the overspray.
 
Thanks for the replies, folks. I've tried all of the liquids I can think of, including WD-40. I'm going to try an abrasive pad +polish. Here's hoping for the best.

'Mach V Makes a window acid used to get water spots and other stains of exterior glass, basically get some 000 steel wool the acid and some a hose near bye, one window at a times, because you dont wont to get ahead of your self. Start buy soaking the wool with the solvent rub the glass be sure to do rub hard enought to let the acid work, let it dwell for 60 seconds and rinse off thoroughly, On big windows ie windsheild, rear windows, etc. Beak the the treatment into sections. Try this out it works wonders.'
