Safely removing overspray from weather striping?

How can I safely remove overspray from pieces of weatherstriping on my car? I just purchased acar with terrible overspray on not only rubber pieces but chrome as well..and its been there a while. Any help is apreciated, thanks.

To remove the OS from the weatherstipping, some type of solvent is necessary. As far as the chrome and painted surfaces, clay, abrasive polish, or even wetsanding might be in order. The wetsanding would only be for the paint, of course.
