rust convertor

If you get rust convertor on your paint, will it hurt it? I have a really small area of surface rust that I plan on getting rust convertor and applying but I have never used this stuff before and I want to make sure it wont hurt my paint. The area is around a bolt on the inside of my door so I am not overly concered about it looking perfect.

Thanks for your response. It will mark the paint but not eat away at it or crack it or anythiing, right?

You can think of the rust converter as just another *type* of paint, like a primer. It won't damage the paint you put it over, but it will be like putting paint on, so try to *not* get it all over the place. You might try applying it with the tip of a toothpick.

ive had it etch into my paint where i spilt some and missed it...much like a bad bird poop etching

id suggest you carefully dremel away the rust spot and apply the rust treatment to that bare area..then use touch up paint to cover it up
