The Duetto will cut close to the 3401. However, the forced rotation helps big time on non flat panels. Never have to worry about the pad stopping rotation or bogging, which can happen A LOT with a random orbital.

Did you pick up the Rupes mini though?

so i take it that i can push down ALOT more because this thing doesn't even bog a little when i push down pretty hard

still learning of course

Seriously? That's awesome.

With the larger 12mm orbit, you do not need to push down hard. Light pressure is good, unless you come across a deeper defect

yes.. and coming from the megs da drill attachment you know i was used to having to push down very firmly to get any decent correction.

i have pushed down pretty firmly on the duetto for some light RIIDS and most of them have cleaned up just fine (and im using the yellow pad and fine yellow top gel-which im finding is very nice)

the only thing...and im not sure if im using too much or too little product or trying to cover a larger area than i should (usually covering 2x2 or slightly larger area with a three or four pea sized drops on the pad-and i do brush it out in between passes)
BUT i am having some of the polish residue leave smears that require me to spray the panel with qd to get them off

suggestions?

this is a pic of the initial amount i used to 'prime' the pad (which im not even sure is necessary with the rupes pad being open cell?) and then i put three pea sized dots on after every pas and brushing the pad off with denture brush



im thinking maybe its something in the pad because i had the same smearing that was hard to get off when using another yellow rupes pad with pb pws (although it was not as bad) when doing an initial test on the vehicle i am currently working on in my garage

running speed 3.5ish normally..moved it up to 4 and still had the same smearing, and its just a little bit. if i wipe the whole panel and then take the brinkman over it its a few spots almost like someone touched the panel with the fingers and left an oily residue
it comes of with a spray of qd but i did not have this problem initially on the denali xl
 
I'd use at least speed 4 or higher. You want to make sure you break down the polish. 2 x 2 should be the largest. I work in smaller sections(not too small). I'm sure Todd will chime in. 4 pea sized drops is good.

thanks. i will move to speed four and give that a shot.

im seing nice results from just a 'fine' polish.


 
and i find myself wanting to keep changing pads..looks like its gonna just be two yellow 6inch rupes pads for the whole small suv im working on

i read somewhere that the rupes pads + gel are designed to build up inside the foam cells allowing you to use one pad for much longer- to me, this seems legit
