Rupes Conversion? .... Anyone ever think of this...........

I just received my open box 15 so haven't had a chance to even use it in NJ but....

Has anyone considered swapping out a part to convert to the 21mm throw.
It looks simple in the parts diagram if its just a few screws. I haven't taken the backing plate off yet to see whats involved.
I priced the Rupes 21 part #58.240/C (it includes a few parts FOR around $40 SHIPPED)
I don't think the friction part where the pad drags needs to be changed out if i'm not going to a 6" backing plate.

The only other difference between the two that matters is the electronic speed control part is different due to the faster OPM rating of the LHR15. That just means I will have a higher OPM limit.

I was just considering rather than have 2 Rupes polishers, I can convert it over if I need to do a larger job or see what I like better for minimal cost.

I can post the parts diagrams if anyone is interested. I won't be sure its even possible until I get the backing plate off.

Interesting. I know Garry Dean has put the 21 "head" on the Duetto Body. I wonder if it's the same idea.

Ummm...If it works even a 21 might be able to be dropped down to a15mm in tighter places.

Who is really going to do that ???

Take the machine apart and switch the whole drive mechanism for "tighter places". Really? Just buy a 21 if you want it. Or buy both. Or just buy a Griot's and you can be done with it.

I was only interested in changing the throw if I felt the 15 wasn't worth it. Rather than sell it for less than i paid and buy a 21.
Not to argue.

That would be me. Would post a pic if it wasn't so difficult to do here
