Rubber running board and bumper dressing

I'm a newbie as you can see and wonder what's the best OTC product for restoring rubber running boards and step bumper pads. I tried some 303 but it didn't that good. What about Mcguiars 38 ? I don't want a shiny surface and not slick either - there must be a solution. I don't use the running boards but the GF does as she is short.
