rotary question

I have a rotary (Silverline - orange one) and Automagic pads and products.

I gave a try yesterday on this stuff: first I clayed (Clay Magic and Body Shine as clay lube), then with a wool pad I used New car glaze then with a moderate cut pad (yellow one), the Magic Glaze with green pad (light cut).

I find wool pad very friendly, works great, but on sponge pads I had a problem. It just didn't sit on the paint! It couldn't stay still. I don't know why. Too less product? rpm was 900-1000. I have to push it on the paint harder?

Thank you.

Just a question? Why would you want a rotary to sit still?

I find that I steer my rotary more then control it, if that makes sense?

You've gotta prime the pad well to get it to glide well. Spray it with 2 spritzes of QD, use a lot more polish then you think is necessary for the first pass and work it into the pad with your hand. Then on your first coupla passes, lift the front half of the pad a little bit so not all the pad is contacting the paint. This will help to heat it up and soften the pad, so it'll be easier to work with.

I don't seem to understand how to properly remove those damn swirls!I user AUtomagic's New Car Glaze with a wool pad at about 1800 rpm, but I couldn't remove the swirls (washing swirls).

My method is this (All Automagic):

1. Clay

2. New Car Glaze with wool pad

3. New Car Glaze with yellow pad (moderate cut pad)

4. Magic Glaze ith green pad (light cut pad)

5. sometimes XP Swirl Remover with foam pad (finishing pad)

6. Awesome Gloss with fine foam pad (paint sealant).

I have a friend who details and he also use Automagic line, and he told me that I should remove the fine swirls at the NewCarGlaze+WoolPad step. But I just don't seem to succeed.

What's the hook?

I don't know about Automagic, but I can tell you if you try Menzerna IP with a Rotary at those RPM's, you will remove those swirls with one slow pass. Glazes usually aren't really swirl removers but again not familar with AM. I don't use the center of the pad, and I don't prime them personally only because it will gum up IP sooner if you do with my technique. I apply IP to the PAD then "swoosh" it around the panel. Wool should work, but most people prefer pads.
