Rotary for correction on plastics?

Hello all,

I havent been on here for years and the layouts changed a little, but I would like to ask for people's opinions about using a rotary on plastic bumpers etc. I am worried about the plastic warping due to heat build up and possible damage caused to other non-metallic surfaces such as CF or fibre glass.

Would your opinions be for me to use both rotary and DA's for corrections or simply master the rotary and be done with DA's all together? any feedback would be appreciated thanks.

I just use no pressure on the buffer and just let your polish so the work. To me harder plastics, like side rear view mirrows , will burn faster than a plastic bumper.

Maybe more polish, slower speed and less pressure. Good luck Joe

Least aggressive method first. Go with the DA first if you don't get the results you want switch up to a rotary, but once you go rotary you might not come back to DA. The results and time done IMO are far greater than DA.

I use my rotary on plastic bumpers all the time. But you really have to know what your doing because burning though is greatly enhanced on the plastics. But if you really know how to use a rotary you shouldn't have much issue.

thanks for the input folks, i shall purchase a few scrap panels and polish the life out of them before touching my own paint. it just seems that all my friends with an interest in detailing say its very dangerous to use rotary, but looking at how long a DA takes on their cars, i feel that the risk is worth it once you have mastered the techniques required.
