Root Beer in the headliner, seat

My mom made the mistake of leaving a can of root beer (unopened) in her Concorde overnight when the temperature dropped to the low teens F.

So the can ruptured on top and root beer sprayed all over the headliner and seat.

What should I use to get the stains out? Can I use the LGCM and Woolite on the headliner or does it use too much water and would affect the headliner adhesive?
 
Save the Bissell for the upholstery. The stain probably hasnt had time to set so any mild laundry detergent should remove it. If not you'll need to use a tannin stain remover and possibly follow that with an oil-break spot remover.

This happened on Christmas Eve. I haven't been able to work on it because I had been sick from Sunday - yesterday. I'm OK now, and it's supposed to be in the low 40s tomorrow so I plan to work on the stain then.



I have some Autoglym Interior Shampoo and Detailer's Pride Carpet / Upholstery Cleaner. I plan on trying those two things first, and maybe Woolite.
 
If you have the OXY Clean (powder mix) mix about a tablespoon of powder in a 16 or 20 oz. bottle filled w/ the hottest water you can get out of the tap. Pour that over your stains in the seats, carpet, etc. Then extract out w/ your LGCM. Add mixture of Oxy as needed while you extract until gone. This stuff works wonders for me. Not sure about the headliner though as far as using too much water and heat, I haven't fooled with headliners to much.
 
As others have mentioned, the headliner adhesive is very fragile and too much water/solvent/etc. will lead to the dreaded sagging. I use Folex but you can go with whatever stain remover works best for you and apply it to a clean towel. I then gently dab the stained area a little and then rotate the towel so I am always working with a clean towel. It takes some patience but the stain should eventually come out of the headliner.
 
White95Max: Use the solution I have in my sig. Just make about 1/4 of it. Use an MF that you don't really care about too much. I use a Wal-Mart MF.



Fully soak the MF and ring it out gently, still allowing solution to wring if you ring it hard. Gently rub back and forth over the headliner. The solution will enter the headliner. The key with this is light pressure and not too much solution as you could cause the headliner to prematurely droop.



After each 1x1' section, stick into the solution and move it around to remove any loose particles, ring gently and repeat.



This is what I do for customers, I have excellent results.
