Hey everyone, rookie here(23) looking for some advice from the pro’s. I got my first real new car and want to take care of it. Its white which is nice that I can’t see swirls :p but it obviously gets dirty pretty easily. I wash my car once a week. I do notice rail rust or what appears to be rail rust on the hatch. I’ve used clay bar to remove it but the dust and junk in the air always causes contaminants to appear on the white. Anyways I’m looking for some good products to use obviously expensive doesn’t mean good, but I need help with what to get , when to use it, and how to use it properly.



Another one of my questions will be; to properly detail a car do I need a porter cable? Im a bit afraid of using it but some tell me its pretty easy. Heres the products I currently use, nxt soap, nxt wax, and zymol polish and meguiars claybar and I also have there super detail spray.

What’s a good wash mitt that holds a lot of suds? What about soap is nxt fine? I don’t know what any of the abbreviations mean but I know OC or OTC is over the counter.

What are some good products to get for drying? Are there any kits? I’ve heard about klasse all in one. So basically im looking for some advise on products from washing-drying-detailing. Help me with the basics and get the ball rolling. Thanks a lot guys!

to properly detail a car do I need a porter cable?

Considering your car is brand new, white, and the hardness of VW's clearcoat, you probably do not need a PC just yet unless money was not an issue, which in that case I think it's a good investment.



What’s a good wash mitt that holds a lot of suds?

A lot of people like 100% lambswool mitt, such as the Eurow brand lambswool mitt that you can find at Walmart for about $5 each. I find them to be soft, but the problem for me was mine started disintegrating after 1 wash. Other members have gotten a lot more use out of them though.



I have microfiber mitts and natural sea sponges, but lately I've just been using the cheap grout sponges from Home Depot that SpoiledMan recommends. I love the fact that it rinses completely clean by agitating against the GritGuard.



What about soap is nxt fine?

NXT car wash is fine, but if you want to try a really nice soap I suggest Duragloss' car wash concentrate which you can buy at CarQuest.



What are some good products to get for drying?

Most people on here like to use a soft, quality waffle weave drying towel. I personally use Sonus Ultimate Drying towel and Sonus Der Wunder drying towel. IMO, it seems like a lot of the quality mf towels are very similar so chances are that many are being produced just by a few companies in Korea.



If you just want to buy one locally, Kmart sells a big drying towel for about $10. I have not used this product so I can't comment on how well it works, but it seems to be of good quality. There's a member on here who goes by BigAl3, and I've always found his reviews/opinions on microfiber towels to be spot on to how I feel and this is one of the towels he likes so I will probably get one myself the next time I'm at Kmart.

thanks for the help. what would you recommend for detailing then? polishes, waxes,etc.. can everything thats applied by hand, also be used by a pc. i still dont understand the whole sealant and finish stuff.
 
That's a great looking Golf. Is it a GTI, R32, or some fancy model we don't get here in the US?



Anyway, are you in CZ? What product lines do you have there OTC, or are you planning on buying stuff online?
