Simple... It's quicker when your on your feet rather than rolling around inching along. If your a volume shop every minute equals $ gained or $ lost. and especially in winter here my guys are scampering for every dollar to get. However if you're like some guys on here and charge $500+ for a single detail you can easily afford to take all day on one detail and not have to worry about losing any money on the deal. In which case take all the comfort saving tips you can and relax all day while you milk out a detail. (god knows I would if my economy would let me charge anywhere close to that)

Been doing this detailing stuff a long time and I can tell you from experience that the key to not getting a sore back from bending over is to simply not bend over. When it comes to either washing or polishing and waxing the sides of a vehicle, it is usually much better to bend your knees, lower your body while facing the vehicle and keep your back in a vertical position the entire time.



It is usually when you allow your back to bend and become somewhat horizontal that you will begin to experience problems. This is especially true when you are working on larger suv's and trucks. Most people have a tendency to begin to lean over as they work on the sides of these vehicles. It is much better to always remember to keep your back vertical by bending your knees and lowering your body. That in itself will help to reduce any chance of developing back problems.

I'd rather lose a couple minutes a day "inching along" than being out of work because my back went out. I do volume as well, but I will not go so far to say that it is that much faster walking and bending than sitting and rolling.



I do not take all day on one vehicle. I do not worry about "losing money" on a deal by saving my back. And I definitely do not relax all day milking out a detail. :cooleek:



I already have a bad back as it is, and I know plenty of other pros on here do as well. Taking care of your body is invaluable and not something that should be shrugged off as a luxury time-waster. :nono
 
Most Sports Medicine Doctors will tell you that spending too much time working on your knees is very damaging to not only your knees but also your back too. Yes we love our vehicles but we need to take care of our knees and backs for a lifetime. tks for the input. going to hv to try this or get a scissor lift. guess which one is cheaper?
