Rock flew out of the sky !

So I was driving today, and this rock just came down out of the sky and I heard it bounce off the hood. After checking, no major dings, etc but there is one spot where it's just bare metal now.



What would you advise.

Touch it up with touch up paint and then wetsand it so it blends in.



Leave it as is until I have more work for the bodyshop to do (like a repaint of the bumpers but that's a year from now) and just make sure that spot is well protected with Klasse or the like.

I recently experienced the same problem. I won't "advise" you one way or the other but I will tell you what I did.



I cleaned the area with wax & grease remover and since it was down to bare metal I dabbed a bit of primer in the crater being careful to not fill the crater with primer.....have to leave room in there for color paint. Then I used a very small artists paint brush and filled the rest of the crater with color paint.



After letting it harden for a couple of days I sanded with 2000 grit being very careful to sand no more area than was absolutely necessary then used Poorboys SSR #2, then #1 and then polish to get out the sanding marks.



Now all is well. The crater is filled with paint and even though it's less than perfect it's acceptable.



I didn't want to leave the crater without paint in it as the chip went clear down to bare metal and I didn't want rust to develop.
