Ok guys, I have a customer that drove through a patch of road that was newly repaved. I went through 7 bottle of turtle wax tar remover on the outside alone . . . now the question is how to remove it from the wheel wells. I could continue with my current method but it is rather expensive. Suggestions?

First, stop using store bought, high markup Turtle Wax goo.

Second, try scraping off as much as you can with a plastic scraper thingy.

Finally, buy some mineral spirits by the gallon at the home store place and a spray bottle and go to town. Keep using the scraper thingy to remove the tar.

Buy a can of undercoat for the wheel wells. This will save you much time and effort. A good undercoat will harden like a rock. Your wheelwells will look new again.

I use Pro's Pro-Sol for tar. Spray it on and let it sit awhile and the tar practically melts off. Just let it sit awhile. If it is thick, then apply a little more. I then use a rag and get it wet with pro-sol and gently wipe it off the paint. Works great!

where can i find that pro's pro sal at?

email them at prowax.com and they'll tell you where the closest distributor is. You can get it in in a gallon can and 5 gallon jug. Possibly even a 55 gallon drum but I'm not positive on that one.

Pro Sol, spray it on, wait a minute, then wipe it off. Works great. Tarminator is very good too. I believe Strauss Auto carries Tarminator.

Today is my first day at this site. So Hi everyone. I do detailing for a hobby here in Mass. and IMO WD-40 is the best stuff to remove tar. Spray it on and let it soak in, it will take it off paint really well and does not harm the surface.

When it comes to tar you don't want to rub to hard or have to use your fingernails because they scratch.

In this case don't use a weekend warrior/ shadetree detailer product.

Pro makes Pro sol and it is the best... use it.
