Road Paint on Range Rover HSE - Help Wanted!

I recently washed, clayed, and waxed my 2008 Range Rover HSE and I noticed what appears to be road paint dried onto my clearcoat. I tried several passes with a clay bar, some wipes with mineral spirits, WD-40, and some plastic razors to no avail.



Are there any other good tricks this side of wet-sanding the dried road paint off?

I tried this stuff per a recommendation here on the forum, but it did very little (I may be using it wrong):

Do you have any idea where you were when the road paint splatter occurred? You may want to get ahold of the DOT or whoever is in charge of maintaining that road and find out what specific paint it is. From there you may be able to determine a solvent or chemical that can take it off safely.

It was either in Alabama or Florida. We took the RR to the beach in the panhandle area.

Not easily. I even tried some brand new plastic razors.

i hope what david recommended helps u out but just in case it doesnt u can also try get off clean, on detailingsuccess website. not sure if it will work but another option. good luck

Didn't Scottwax use optimum power clean once with success?

I tried out these wipes this past weekend. They easily removed the tiny specks with a lot of elbow grease, but the larger spots are not easily coming off. After two hours I gave up. I'd say that 50% of the specks are removed. I'll keep trying.

Road Paint (Traffic Lane Paint)



Is a pigmented resin system, very high in solids with a colour aggregate and is more like an adhesive than paint; it contains silica (glass) micro beads that help reflect light, however they can cause scratches if you use mechanical removal.



Correction / Removal - use 3M Adhesive Remover and detailer’s clay or a plastic razor blade.

Wet-sand with 2000 - 2500 grit finishing paper and a Unigrit block.



For heavy accumulations or paint that has dried for several days on the vehicles paint surface, apply a liberal coating of Vaseline to the dried traffic paint and allow product to remain overnight and then pressure wash. This should remove most of the traffic paint. If not, repeat the procedure.
