RIP Porter Cable 7424

I wonder if the smaller CW and extensive use had anything to do with it breaking? :nixweiss

Anyway, considering how much you use it and how much time it probably saves you I don't see $107 to be too bad.

I've had my G100 (A PC-7335) since December of 2001 and the bearings in it are JUST starting to go bad. I wonder how much difference is played by having the different counterweight/backing plate on it, as far as longevity is concerned..... :nixweiss

I only recently bought my PC and I only occasionally do other people's cars. So, I expect my PC to last me for many years. However, if it does break I think I'll replace it with a G100. When I bought mine I didn't realize the G100 came with a "no questions asked" lifetime warranty.

Happy New Year, Scott.

When my first PC died, I went right to Lowe's for a replacement.

I took the dead PC to an "authorized" repair center, and 15 days/$65 later, it lasted about a week!

We lost a Chicago Electric rotary a few weeks ago, diagnosed a circuit board short, and promptly tossed it in the trash... for $25 (replacement cost) we couldn't afford the time/labor to repair it.

Conversely, one of $325 Fein rotarys went down just last week. we were able to resucitate it (with parts from FeinUS) for about $125.

Tools break. Drive on. :LOLOL

Scotty, just how many PC's or rotary's you had went thru for the last passed 10+ years?
