Rigid Vac Accessories + Filter question

IIRC, the instructions say to remove the filter for sucking up water.

Yes, remove the filter for sucking up water. It can only hold so much before the water level reaches the filter and ruins it.

I'm pretty sure it depends on the filter. Mine says I can hose the filter off when it gets dirty. You don't want to be sucking dirt into the motor with out the filter. I'm guessing you don't have the directions? Wonder if they have them on the Rigid site?

I do not own a Rigid, but my shopvac must have the filter when vacuuming either water or dirt..
I would think it would suck water into the motor without the filter in there. Even though the water isnt up that high, it can splash around...

Yeah instructions say take the filter out if you are sucking up liquids. Just a little bit is ok with the filter in, but if you are going to extract carpets then you should definitely take it out.
They sell all the accessories and filters at home depot. I was surprised to see you could buy all the accessories individually.

Just downloaded the owners manual for mine. It states...
Vacuuming Liquids
IMPORTANT:
1. When picking up small amounts of liquid the filter may be left in place.
2. When picking up large amounts of liquid we recommend that the filter be removed. If the filter is not removed, it will become saturated and misting may appear in the exhaust.
3. After using the vac to pick up liquids, the filter must be dried to reduce the risk of possible mildew and damage to the filter.
4. When the liquid in the drum reaches a predetermined level, the float mechanism will rise automatically to cut off air-flow.
When this happens, turn off the vac, unplug the power cord, and empty the drum. You will know that the float has risen because vac airflow ceases and the motor noise will become higher in pitch, due to increased motor speed.
