The Ridgid WD4550 arrived today and I'll try to post a few thoughts.
This is the unit I purchased.
FWIW, It is a product of Canada.
Price: $89.95 from Home Depot including free shipping at this time. You should verify the shipping as I think that was a special deal for orders over $49 and may not always apply. You can't get it at the stores at this time.
Shipping & Delivery: Ordered from Home Depot on-line 10/28, delivered 11/02, just like they said it would.
Packing: Box in a box and everything was in good shape. (No stinking styrofoam peanuts)
Assembly: None needed. Just plug in the hose, plug in the electric and go.
Instructions: Not really needed, but there if you wanted them.
Appearance: Just like the picture. Seems to be pretty well made.
Noise: Not quiet, but about average. Maybe even a little less considering it is a 5hp unit.
Suction: Lifts the carpeted mats right off the floor of the van. (So does the Metro)
Tools: Floor nozzle, brush nozzle, crevice tool. Sufficient, but I'm spoiled with my auto nozzle and may have to try to find one for this unit.
Ease of Use: No problem at all. Obviously not as handy as the Metro, but still easy to use.
Portability: It is complete in the case as shown and should be easy to transport. Tools and cord store in the lid areas.
Now for some of the not positive things. Can't really call them negatives since I was aware of them going in.
1. It has a 1-7/8" hose and tools so you are limited in what/where you can buy them.
2. It isn't cheap, but I have no regrets for paying the price I did.
Overall, a nice addition to my garage.
