Product: Super Plush MF Wash Mitt

Price: $7.95

Vendor Claims: This is the first microfiber wash mitt I've ever been happy with. My lamb’s wool mitts now sit on the shelf because of this new mitt. Unlike traditional microfiber wash mitts, the fibers on this one are not looped and left open. This creates long fibers that draw dirt away from the surface into the mitt. It then rinses clean and is ready to go again.

Packaging: The towel came unsealed in a USPS package. I received this towel for free from Scott. He did NOT ask me to review it or ask me to post my feelings about it. I had a question or two about the mitt and next thing I knew, it was at my door step! Since it was for free, I think Scott skipped the “proper” packaging that he ALWAYS employs when shipping out orders.

Color/texture/dimensions: Cream colored, tight, elastic cuff with a soft, white loop to hang it by. Well constructed with durable stitching. I pulled at the fibers and they do not pull out. 10” long x 7” wide x 1” thick. The mitt has nice padding on the inside adding to its thickness. The fibers (1/2 inch long) are tightly bunched and much longer, plush and free flowing than the traditional, first generation tightly bunched, short, compact MF mitt fibers. Those mitts are not as plush and more difficult to rinse. This mitt’s fibers allow for more soap absorption and clinging, easy free rinsing, and less chance of marring. Much like a sheepskin (and the lesser quality synthetic Meguiar’s GC mitt), it holds loads of soap. The fibers are very soft and plush, just like a top quality MF towel, only much longer. Also, it is nothing like those thick looped MF mitts with the exposed rough backing.

How I used: I washed a waxed car this evening that had normal dirt accumulation with Meguiar’s GC, foam gun and the 2 bucket method. Given the tight cuff, it never touched the surface of the car. It glided effortlessly like a sheepskin across the surface without any need for real pressure. I only used it on paint and glass, not bumpers, lower rocker panel or wheels. Those I used dedicated sheepskins for like I do with all my washes. It’s too nice to use in that fashion.

Overall Thoughts: This is NOT your traditional MF mitt! There is nothing else like it that I have seen. Imagine your plush MF towel with longer fibers and padding and that’s what you get with this mitt. I would use this mitt on a lightly soiled vehicle. I feel it might be a tad delicate to use on a filthy car. It was a total pleasure to use, gliding like silk along the surface. It is perfect for a Detail City-type weekly washing and even on a garage queen. It is definitely worth a spot in your arsenal of wash tools if you are placing an order at Specialty Motoring. If you’re into trying something new, it’s worth a shot.

Other Notes: I simply rinsed by hand in cold water under the faucet until I felt it was clean. I flung it dry and hung by its hook. When 90% dry I chucked in the dryer on low heat for 10 minutes. The mitt was plush and soft. After a few car washes I’ll clean it in the machine with some MicroRestore on a cold delicate setting.

Great review! I've been hesitant to try a MF wash mitt but now I'm thinking I'll give this one a shot. Thanks for your time! :D

Nice review and great pictures.
The yarn/strands whatever they are called look to be almost as long as those of a chenille wash mitt.
Maybe this is the "Chenille MF Wash Mitt" that 97F1504x4 was referring to a day or so ago.
Sorry Richard, you knew what you were talking about all the time.
(I sure didn't.)

That mitt looks exactly the same as the MF mitts they sell here in Canada at Canadian Tire. Only difference from what I can see is the color, ours are white. They work ok but get soiled and will not wash clean even in the washing machine. They are fine for lightly dirty cars or garage queens but I wouldn't use them for daily drives that get dirty. I still prefer sheepskin to these or anything else.

No need to apologize Charles. That mitt is not what i was referring to and I have never seen one like that before. Although the Chenille one was similar but had the looped strands that Spilchy referenced.

That mitt does look a bit thin to me but of course it is always ahrd to tell by a online picture. Maaybe i will give one of them a try.

All the cotton chenille mitts I ever saw looked very thin to me. That's one reason I used sheepskin. The ones I used several years ago were kind of pricey, but the Eurow's from Wal*Mart seem to work fine and are around 5 to 6 bucks. As has been mentioned several times, you have to check them over and I sometimes walk away with out buying the ones they have in stock.
One thing about Wal*Mart, the inventory changes pretty fast.

This sounds very promising Seth. Thanks for putting it to the test.

One thing I MUST ask though (for my sanity). Does it rinse free (in the rinse bucket) completely like a sheepskin? This has always been my pet peeve with MF mitts.

I think that you were referring to the 5-pack of Eurow Chenille MF mitts . I've seen them at Costco...they looked and felt like regular cotton Chenille mitts, but I didn't dare buy them because of my experience with the Costco Eurow yellow MF towels :realmad:

Yeah, I realized that too, that's why I made mention in my review. I use multiple washing tools in my wash so this mitt is reserved for paint and windows only, not bumpers, rocker panels, filthy lower panels, etc...

Since the car wasn't filthy, the mitt cleaned up nicely. Maybe with a more dirty vehicle it will stain. I'm not sure yet.

Again, I recommend it for a light washing not for a filthy car or a customer's car. It was nice to take my time and gently wash down the car with the normal accumulation of dirt which was last cleaned a week ago.

I have those. Be very careful with them because the backing that the loops are stiched into is VERY rough and would easily mar the finish. The loops are not tightly grouped or abundant enough to prevent the backing of the mitt from hitting the surface.

They are good for wiping down the interior or cleaning wheels, bumpers and rocker panels (which I use them for).

Yes it did free rinse well. The fibers are longer and not as sticky as the traditional mitts or synthetic sheepskins. Although tighly stitched together, the fibers didn't adhere to each other in a low pile like other MF mitts.

Again, like I mentioned before, the vehicle was lightly soiled so it didn't accumulate little tidbits of debris in the mitt.

But I know what you mean.

I would be very curious to know what happen with the Costco MF towles. I have been using them for a few years now and never had any issues at all. However I think mine were made by Detailers Supply or something like that.

Good review. Should add to your rep points.
I will have to try it eventually. I'm very hesitant to go back to artificial fibres.
