Review: Meguiar's GC Trim Detailer

Is it the same product as #38 Trim and Tire Dressing Gel, as that is an off-white-ish colour, too?

If its the same, then I'll stick with #38 and try bufing a bit harder :-)

Not sure, Mike Phillips can comment on this. It had a pudding type consistancy to it. It is not at all a bad product. I just find that cleaning the trim and getting off all the wax as a good solution over covering it up.

Hey all!

I will try and comment on the questions asked.

I do not believe that Meguiar's #38 Tire & Trim Dressing Gel is the same as Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer for several reasons.

Firstly, the colors are different. The GC Trim Detailer is white (with a bit of a blue tint) looking gel whereas the #38 is a light tan/beige color.

Secondly, they smell VERY different! GC Trim Detailer has a very pleasant smell. But, #38 has very little smell. More of a personal choice here!

Thirdly, the #38 is a little more in the liquid state whereas the GC Trim Detailer is a little more of a gel. Do not get me wrong, the #38 is far from being a thin liquid but rather the converse; it is a thick liquid but just not as thick as the GC Trim Detailer.

Finally, where it counts, in terms of performance (this is purely subjective!), I believe that GC Trim Detailer has a little more sheen than #38. Also because it is a gel, the GC is better suited to vertical surfaces as it will adhere to it a little easier. Both when wiped off thoroughly, really leave a beautiful satin sheen!

However, longevity is the question. I will leave the GC on some moldings and use #38 on others. I will report back when I start seeing a difference between the two. I do have a feeling though that the #38 may outlast the GC; I will let everyone know!!

It has been raining like cats and dogs ( a really dumb saying is it not!!?) and I do not see any streaking! To me, I love either product!! Besides longevity (still to be determined), either product is a first class winner in my book!!
