Review: Autoglym: Extra Gloss Protection

Autoglym EGP is meant to be the final step in your detailiung exercise. I find that it's very easy to apply, economical and gives great results.

The liquid is similar to water and a little goes a long way.

It has a bit of a kerosene scent though.

Very easy to buff off if used as directed (similar to Zaino Z2).

Gives a glossy, super slick final finish.

I use it over S100 and the results are fantastic. Beads water strongly even after 7 car washes in hot tropical weather.

Where are you located and how much time are you talking about here? Weeks? Months?

Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the review. I have Autoglym's Resin Polish and was considering getting the Extra Gloss. Do you find the look similar to Klasse's SG or 1Z Glanz wax? Thinking about just following up the Resin Polish with SG. Last thing I need is yet another product, or do I?

Did I read your post right, do you use Extra Gloss over S100?

My comments above were based on 7 car washes over a 2 week period. EGP seems to resist car washes very well and still maintain a slick surface.

I am residing in Malaysia where the average daily temp is around 88F with extremely high humidity. The S100 never lasts more than a few weeks in these conditions.

Yes, I use S100 first, and then follow up with few layers of EGP.

I can compare it to Klasse products as they are not available in Malaysia.

Ben,

My suggestion is:

1. Proper paintwork prep.

2. Meguiars No 7 Glaze x 2 layers

3. S100 x 1 layer

4. Autoglym EGP x 1 layer

Wait 1 hour, buff off. Wait another 24 hours.

4. Apply 2nd layer of EGP. Wait 1 hr. Buff off.

You should get tremendous results!

Interesting, this is the first time I have seen someone use EG on top of a wax. The EG should have bonding issues but it seems to work for you.

EGP is not carnauba-based. It's a sealant.

As the instructions say, EGP is supposed to be used as the final layer after all the usual polishing, glazing and waxing.

So far, the water-beading effect is still undiminished and I'm really impressed.
