Restoration of a Mitsubishi Evo

The weather was a bummer here today it was just a constant drizzle/rain all day. Oh well I got to see how well the Klassed Minivan was holding up after a month of being outside full time with weekend washes. It really looks great and is still beading like crazy.

At least I got to apply a coat of Souveran to the black car in the garage.

wash, polish with blackfire polish, a coat of blackfire protectant, a little spritz of Zaino Z6, and finally a Zaino Z5 top coat.

I'm tired

:D

Nearly 70 degrees here in St. Louis today. Washed the cars outside for a change. Added a coat of Z5 to the S4. Tarminator on the rockers. 20/20 EagleOne glass cleaner outside and on the tint inside. GumiPhlege on the seals, 303 on some plastic parts, EagleOne Concours on the tires. Vinylex in the wheel wells. Cali Duster on the inside. Vacuumed. I feel better now!

Brad, what is GumiPhledge? Is that some kind of dressing for the door seals?

My detailing tally for today was:

Clayed the hood, bumper & roof

Z-5 on the hood, Z-2 everywhere else

Stoners on the windows, Z-6 on tinted portions

Z-5 on the rims.

What kind of lubricant should I use for car door hinges? I don't have any pics of the type of hinge it is but it shouldn't be tooo different.

I think I am done for today:

wash

clay

AIO with PC x 1

SG x 3 by hand, just finished last coat and letting it cure overnight

wheels with Nu Finish (1st try)

tire and exterior dressing (still trying E1 Protectant)

already thinking: more Klasse or some topper?

I quick-washed the engine. It still looks good. Then I washed the wheels with Sonus gel (they looked terrible but the grime came off very easily this time--thank goodness I polished/protected them before). Next, I washed the car with hot water and BF Shampoo (nice bubbles!). Dried with MF. Put on one more coat of BF PP (that makes 4 on the bonnet, boot and roof and three everywhere else). I applied with the PC and grey foam pad and removed with MF towels. The car looks great.

I ordered two tubes of it and just reveived them the other day. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet but from what I hear it 's good stuff.

part number: 82-14-9-407-015

$5.40 per tube from pacificbmw.com

When I was contacted by the owner of this car, I knew it was gonna need some work. However when I saw the state it was in, I realized it was gonna need a lot more. After discussing options for reviving the paint on this Evo, the customer decided to only do the exterior, even though the inside needed attention and you could barely see through the windows... So I got to work...

Here's what I arrived to...

You can see the clear has completely failed on the rear brakes. I guess there is a recall for this but it hasn't been done yet.

Another factory defect here, the clear was completely shot to oblivion on the carbon fiber spoiler. Spoiler is headed to the paint shop to get redone.

Great work Jeff! The way that thing looked before it should have said "PNKEVOIII" on the plates!. :D

What you use on the paint?
