Respraying Bumpers/Rockers

Has anyone used the kits available from Paint World, Paint Scratch, etc? My rockers and bumper on my Mazda3 are in need of some love from rock pitting, etc.



Any thoughts on these kits? I am trying to avoid a costly respray.

I bought some touchup paint from Paint world for my red Mitsu. Mirage. The rear license plate surround (it is plastic) was discolored and would not correct despite several attempts and processes. I thouroughly prepped the piece, sprayed 3 coats of base and 2 coats of clear and it is a perfect match. I still have some left and am contemplating redoing my front and rear bumpers.
 
Paint it then clear bra? That is If you want to spend that kind of money. I think on my uncles 996tt he had some of the clear bra installed in front of the side air scoops since the rear fenders stick out wide. Good luck.
 
I used a quality paint prep (to eliminate wax residue). Masked off surrounding surface and emblems. Sprayed the base , allowing at least 1.5 hours between coats. Decided if I needed to wetsand (did not) than sprayed 2 coats of clear (about 1 hour separating the coats). Now, if I were to do a larger surface like a bumper, I would probably sand the surface, do a proper wipedown, spray the base, wetsand, spray another base and then clear (Light wetsand if necessary). The main reason to sand the bumper first to to promote adhesion of the paint. Hope this helps.
 
Also, I would recommend going with Paint World or a similiar vendor. They will take your paint code and properly mix the paint so there is no difference between the factory and touchup paint. I had on spray can of base and I spray can of clear made for my color and have plenty of product left. ( the piece I painted was approx 2' by 14") . The touchup paints at an autoparts store (ala Duplicolor) may not correctly match your paint, at least that has been my experience. (Phoenix red)
