Requesting Essential Bookmarked Threads

Hello all, I've been lurking here for a while now, and I finally decided to introduce myself. I decided to join because I want to learn all I can about detailing to help keep my car, and my family's cars in great condition. I've already read a lot of threads so far, but I'm still trying to sort through most of the information. Does anyone have some good bookmarked threads that they deem essential in learning to detail? I would greatly appreciate anything you have. Thanks so much for creating a great detailing community. :)

Lets start with a welcome from Sonoma County CA

This is one of the best PDF that I have read on the subject of detailing...shows pics, explains very well..its by one of the members.

First :welcome: then it's hard to say there is any specific threads that are must reading, because there are so many variables... are you using a machine or hand? if you are using a machine what kind? what experience do you have with or without a machine?
Where do you live? Do you keep your vehicle(s) indoors or outdoor? What environmental factors will you be dealing with? How often do you detail your vehicles? I could go on, but you can search the forums, or use the search feature, or just ask specific questions that you want to know :)

A big thanks to Beemerboy for posting Mikeyc's detailing handbook. There is a lot of information in it that will help me learn tons about detailing. I guess I didn't say much about myself, so here's a little info. I live in Western Illinois, and unfortunately, my car has to sit outside all the time. I'm currently in college, and live in a dorm most of the year, so my car doesn't get too much attention after the summer months. I try an detail my car several times a month in the summer, and whenever I get time the rest of the year. I guess what I'm really interested in right now is maybe some threads about essential detailing products. I'm tired of using over the counter car products, and would like to know what some must have products are. Again, thanks for all the help.

I think DC has too many thread subjects but it does not matter. The best way to read at DC is to start at forums front page and then select New Posts. This will just list threads that have been active in one view instead manually checking each thread.

You can read the title and decide whether to view the thread. If you are new, I would scan the new threads since info is often being providing that may be useful and topics wander a bit.

I would like to add that the detailing handbook referenced has the same error as all the polish cut charts have. Mothers Pre-Wax Cleaner is not a cut 4 and Mothers Power Polish's cut is determined by the pad (cut 5 is likely with an orange or yellow pad).
