Requesting a little Laptop Help

I had this happen to me a while back where I couldn't get hooked to the net through the modem. Turned out it was McAfee and when I got it completely removed from my system I could connect. I think it had something to do with firewall issues but not sure. Today my wireless router wouldn't let me connect, for some reason it wouldn't fix itself either but after a few resets and a couple reboots it snapped out of it.
