I removed the trunk emblems on my mercedes. And now i have all the left over glue residue on the trunk. I try using goo off and lighter fluid with no success. Pls help. Thanks.

I have removed glue residue from GM cars with a Heat Gun. I Used the low setting. CAREFULLY, GENTLY, heat the glue, untill it softens. I scrapped a MF towel to get the glue off, but it worked. BTW, solvents(3M Adhesive Remover, Goof Off, Lighter Fluid) wouldn't remove the residue for me, either...

I was able to get off the residue with goo gone after a few attempts. I let it sit on the residue for a little while and was able to slowly remove a little residue each time I passed over it. Also used car wash soap and kept washing down the area. Have you tried some clay ?

I have to admit that I used carb cleaner to remove the residue from my Volvo badges. Applied carefully as its an aerosol and not allowed to drip anywhere!

ive been trying everything still nothing works. What else can i use to remove the glue left over. I try using a hair dryer because i dont have a heat gun. No good. Pls help.

If you are very careful, you can use a plastic razor blade to get as close to the paint as possible and shave off as much of the residue as you can. At that point, with just a very thin layer of residue left, Goo Gone or another adhesive remover should work.

The older the car and the longer the emblem has been there, the harder it will be to get off the remaining residue.

I used Goo Gone and dental floss to debadge my trunk. A piece of cake. Try Putting some goo gone, liberally, on a cloth or paper towel and let sit on the glue area. Probably will have to keep trunk open. Don;t forget to wax area afterwards

I debadged the rear gate on my Blazer recently:

Heated with hair dryer(scared to use heat gun), tried dental floss, floss kept breaking, so just pulled the damn things off...

Big bunch of adhesive residue, rolled it up with my thumb until I figured out after a minute or so I had just raised God's own blister :sosad

"Better living through chemistry"? WD-40, naptha, 3M adhesive remover, thought a while and decided to leave laquer thinner and acetone on shelf :nono

Back into house, looking for soft scraper(contradiction in terms?), tried cedar shim, kept breaking....

More searching, found old guitar pick(Fender Thin, if you're compulsive) and, in conjunction with the 3M AR, finally got the junk off :)

Final rub with AR on terry, quick polish/wax touchup, and was done!

Looks great, got some minor scratching with either the cedar or the guitar pick, but polished right out. :D

I hear it's a lot easier the newer the car is(mine's a 2K) but after 3 years getting the things off can be a stone bi---!!

BTW, does anyone know if the ugly vinyl/chrome strips on the side of the Blazers have locating pins, or are they just glued on? If no pins, the next time I have a week or so with nothing to do, them suckers are history! I'll definitely try the Goo Gone soak if I attempt them

Good luck, Benzmark! It'll come off if you work at it long enough!
