removing tar off my dog, A different kind of d-tail

so theres this big gloop of tar on the shop floor...its been there since i got the place but i never bothered to really clean it up. i painted the floor twice & covered it. a few years later & now the tar is kind of exposed a bit. i have been lazy with the garage & just never got around to removing the tar. its in a spot that when a car is parked inside...the stain is under the nose of the car.
so moving right along...
i guess she slept on the floor last night, instead of the bed that i made for her. yes she has her own bed & corner in the garage. it used to be where the customers hung out. then i got her, then i got rid of them. i have everyone leave the car with me. i tell them i like to work in peace. so i work & just hang out with my dog all day.

now my girl really needs a DETAIL! :(

should i continue with the joy soap or switch over to something else?
i will follow up with a bucket wash & some hartz dog shampoo.

any help would be appreciated. :bigups

Dawn has been a safe staple for rescues. As you said follow up with proper dog shampoo. I don't know how much work it will take.
The oils in dog hair do eventually "shed" some things.

is that what they used to clean birds after an oil spill?
ive been going at it with a few drops of joy & a lil water to get a lil suds action going on. im picking some pieces out with my fingers as well.
shes a sweet dog but somewhere in the back of my mind is that she has lock jaw & can snap at me any time lol.

thanks but i need to clean this asap, cant wait to order stuff online lol.
wait, i see this is a citrus based product.
so...why dont i just try some goo gone. i will make a trip to the hardware store in the morning.
i would guess a citrus cleaner would be more gentle than dawn or joy???
 
i think dawn would be your best bet for a quick fix. dogs do have sensitive skin so definitely follow up with good oatmeal dog shampoo, it's very soothing to their skin. i love henny jane's smiley face dog pictures. :)
 
I'm thinking M105 on a surfbuf pad, using moderate to light pressure, speed 4 on a DA. Work in smooth overlapping passes until you see a shine start to appear.
