Removing scotch tape and sticky residue?

Hi Folks!

Well, after several trips to the Arizona motor vehicle dept. I've finally registered my new F-350 PSD crew cab.

Here's the problem. After several attempts to register my truck(bought out of state) I had to take down and reinstall my temp registration. Then after this I had to stick on my Arizona temp. registration. Now I finally have a plate on the bumper, but I have boo coo residue and scotch tape all over my back window. Do you folks have any suggestions for cleaning up this ugly mess?

Thanks!

John

I've been known to use lighter fluid for such purposes. But never let it drip onto any of the vinyl/plastic! And what BlackRegal said about tint.

My rear window is factory tinted. I'm not sure if it's film or tinted glass. Does anyone have a ford truck with a tinted rear window or know if it's film vs. glass?:nixweiss

Thanks!

John

The Ford factory tint is in the window - not a film.

I second the use of lighter fluid to get the big stuff off, followed up with some Stoner's IG or 20/20.

First try a 50-50 mixture of Alcohol and distilled water. Use a lot of it. Re member that any solvent that gets on the paint will remove the wax so be careful. If that doesn;t work then Goof Off on a cotton ball should do it.

I had the same problem and ended up using Stoners IG, it took some elbow grease but did the job.

On tinted window film a plastic polish is a safe way to remove tape residue but it also requires some elbow grease.
