Removing Rotary Swirling, Marring and Holograms

Is it possible to remove rotary holograms from paint with a PC. My friend (inexperienced) tried polishing his van with a rotary and has some serious holograms in the paint. I was wondering if I can fix it up with my PC and what products I should use on it. I have never dealt with rotary holograms or marring, which ever its is called. Right Now you can see everywhere where he took the machine over. I have lake county pads yellow, orange, white, and Grey. Thanks
 
what kind of van and year? Need to get an idea of the type of paint. I was able to remove holograms from my friends 05 Stang with a white LC pad and Menzerna PO85RD. I think most finishing polishes could do it with a PC.
 
Sorry for newby question but what does rotary holograms look like? Does anybody have a photo? Thanks in advance.

The above pictures looks like the same damage done to the van I am talking about. It was repainted about five years ago green with single stage paint.
 
Depends on how hard the paint is and how deep the swirls are. I've run across holograms that a G110 with Meguiars #105 couldn't remove. Honestly, I don't even try any more with the G110, I just reach for my rotary in those cases.



You can probably fix the van with his rotary using Meguiars #205 and 3M Ultrafina with a little practice.
 
Yes - you'll probably have to go with something aggressive like a yellow pad and an aggressive polish (I use GlossHaus Foundation 1).
 
Pics could help. Some holograms are very shallow and easy to correct with a light polish. Some are so severe that it can take a good cutting with a wool pad and a rotary to remove. It usually depends on what the person was using (and how) when the trails were put in the paint.



With a PC:

I would try the new 105/205(read up on them a little). They can do a lot of correction and work well with a PC. If they are really bad, be patient, use an orange pad and make many passes if needed.



I would stay away from the yellow pad with the pc as it can really mar the paint. The yellow pad marring can get pretty nasty and hard to remove with a PC.

With the right pads those products should do it OK. You *might* have to get pretty aggressive but I wouldn't expect that. I would *NOT* use yellow foam cutting pads though, if orange won't do it I'd use PFW.



I was playing around with the PC/3.5" PFW/M105 combo the other day, and the stuff I corrected with that (on very hard clear) was a whole lot worse than most any hologram.



On my Yukon, I got out some nasty holograms with PC/4" orange/M015, and milder ones came out with M205 instead.
