Yep, i saw the first pick before very nice, both cars are very nice. Its still one of my favorite body styles. On the techno violet, that light grey interior looks great, what do you use on your tires? I almost bought that same red M3 with the tan interior, its very sharp looking.



I "think" the only way to reduce or remove orange peel is wet sanding. If it were me, and it is me as my 330 has plenty of orange peel also, i wouldn't touch it. Maybe spot wetsanding, but to do it to the entire car would be a little risky. German clearcoats are supposed to be very soft as compared to american ones, you would have to be very careful not to remove too much.

The rotary would make quick work of leveling with the power compound. I love the rotary, but using it with the power compound (basically think of it as liquid sandpaper) is out of my league.



If you're looking for a new product to try, I'd suggesst buying the menzerna kit. It's a little pricey, but it's probably the easiest application/best performing product that I've tried to date. I really like the Klass twins & pinnacle waxes too.

In regards to the Menzerna Power Compound, All I could find online was the Menzerna Intensive Polish. Is this what you were talking about, and if not, where did you buy the Power Compound?

Free advice



If you decide to venture forward with removing the orange peel from your car's finish. First try only a small area from beginning to end. Make sure you can do it to a small section before attempting to do the entire panel or car.



This last weekend, I wet-sanded out three random, isolated, deeper scratches, (RIDS), using #2500 grit paper, (Nikken), and with a compound and a cutting pad, I had a bear of a time getting my sanding marks out.



From my experience, factory Viper paint is some of the hardest paint to work defects out of.



What you can, or cannot do with your car's paint will be determined by how hard it is.

I recently had my car resprayed it not only has server orange peel but I cannot get a decent shine (gloss). I would welcome any suggestions

Power Gloss and Intensive Polish are 2 different products. You can find Power Gloss here - http://www.properautocare.com/powergloss32oz.html



but i'm not too sure it will remove orange peel, it will remove the sanding marks after wetsanding though.
 
To get rid of orange peel, you will have to wetsand and buff it out.

I normally start with 2000 grit sand paper, and see if that take it out. If that does not work, I switch to 1500 and finish with 2000. The last resort is 1000 grit, but that is when you have massive amounts of defects in the paint(very rarely i go this route). Of course, i do all this with a rotary. I do not have a pc yet..

I just bought some Power Gloss Compound and a wool-bonet for my 7424. I will try to do a small section of this rear panel, to see if it makes a difference. If it does, then I will continue to the rest of the panel, but if not, at least I tried. Again, its not too bad, just thought I would get peoples opinions on what to do.

I actually used for the photos the same stuff that’s in you collection – Megs Endurance tyre gel.



It looks good and lasts well but I don’t like the build up as it gets a bit gooey and completely screws up my wheel sponge... I might get flamed for this but I actually like armour-all, quick and easy to do every time I wash and gives good looks.

Never had experience with American clear coats but I would confirm that both mine and my dad’s BM’s mark very easily, even the Megs drying towel can leave faint holograms … :shocked
 
Orange peel is best corrected by block sanding. The car you have is not what you want to be learning on. I would get a pro to do the work or leave it alone. Looks fine to me and I will trade you my `97 Camry if you want. Very little orange peel.
