Removing old window tint???

OK so that tint has been ripped off the windows of a Dodge Avenger because it was too dark. Now the customer has left me with the sticky residue. What is the best way to remove this from a back window? I have already removed it from the sides with adheasive remover but I'm having a heck of a time with the rear. The reason being is that there are defroster lines and the slant is really tight to work with. Any suggestions? Will be trying to finish it up tonight.

IIRC ammonia breaks down the tints adhesive, just if you use it do it with the windows open, because that stuff will reek(sp?) havoc on your lungs.
I am sure that are other things, just thats the first one that comes to mind.

Found this link hope it helps

I had to remove the tint form one of my vechiles one thime and ran into the same proplem. I used Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo and water. 1:1 ratio on mixing it. This, as I have been told, is what the old pros use. It worked perfect for me. Oh, and i just used a razor blade with it. On the parts that are had to get to I would use a long puddy blade, platic or metal.

I called a local tint shop and they said to use windex and a razor blade. The windex loosens up the glue and the blade will scrap the rest off.

Also 3M has an adhesive remover if you havea a local dealer that handles it

There was a really good thread about this subject a few months ago. Anything with ammonia in it will dissolve the glue. Pro Wax makes a window cleaner specifically formulated to remove window tint glue. To remove the tint with out leaving left over film or glue, the ammonia based liquid is sprayed all over the tint. The tint is then covered with a trash bag, or the trash bag sticks to the tint, slowly dissolving the glue. This is supposed to allow you to easily peel the tint off. Anyways try to find the thread, I may have missed something.

Thank's guy's! I got all the residue removed. Took a little elbow grease and some solvent made by PPG. Turned out pretty well but I really don't ever want to do it again anytime soon!!! :moon:
