Removing emblems/badges?

Easy question... hopefully has an easy answer. I am thinking of removing the emblems/badges from my 2001 Tahoe. I was wondering if anyone here has done this and what the process is. Also, what should I watch out for?

I removed my Ford emblem so I can repaint it a few days ago. I used a fishing line and pretty much slice through the glue and once the emblem is out, I used some goo gone and rubbed the glue off the paint.

Some fool decided to rip off 1/2 of my "L" symbol in a parking lot a few weeks ago.

To remove the left over emblem and the adhesive I purchased a heat gun and heated the general area. The emblem was very hot to touch, and the car was warm to touch. Then I used extra strong floss and weaved it inbetween the body and emblem. I got the floss in and pulled up. The emblem gave way and it was sticking up now. So I heated spots and pulled up on the emblem. I continued to heat spots and pull up until it was all off.

Once the emblem was off, I removed the gummy residue by heating it up and rubbing it off with a soft cloth. Its like taking gun off your shoe.

The only problem now is that where my "L" used to be, is now a different shade of paint! So it looks really ghetto!

Hope this helps
