Removing Egg Nog Latte?????

Just One More Coat
Customer just called spilled a whole egg-nog latte on the cars floor, seats, part of the console..you guessed it

What should I use to get the coffee out of the carpet??...the rest I can handle?....I have a citrus based cleaner that I use....then for the carpet I have a extractor solution and folex.

Any ideas?

She is wiping up the liquid at the moment....told her to use some flour to start on the carpet to absorb the liquid as much as possible then I can do the rest...Looks like I will get the car this afternoon sometime...glad that we have clear weather
 
It sounds like you have got the equipment and the right stuff to use...luckily its not too hot to where if that latte starts to sit for a while it may get smelly, although the citrus cleaner should help.

Atleast she is picking up the excess before it starts to set in to much...I understand the principle behind the flour but do you think that might make more of a mess? I am wondering if the floor may get caked into the carpet.

What type of seats? cloth or fabric?

I am picking up the car this afternoon about 3 or so...The idea with the flour is to put a bandaid on the situation...I would not let it set on the carpet for long...meaning a day or better...Its a MB e55 AMG:eek:....the owner is a real good customer and she and her BF are real nice people...its only on passenger side for the most part...I don't see it as much work...I am also doing a wash wax this weekend on the same car
 
Wow nice car...well good luck, I think what you have will be fine...I had a similar situation with choclate milk, although in not such a nice car but rather a soccer mom mini van, and the milk had sat there for days...thats another great use for the steamer.

Let me know how the flour works out, I may have to remember that in the future.

Sounds like you know what you are doing. I find the only way to get rid of coffee & spills & odor is to clean it right away. I had a customer with a milk spill, in 90 degree summer, I cleaned & ozoned 3 times. He had to trade the car in X5 BMW by the way. Nasty. Good Luck you'll be fine.
 
I picked up the car yesterday afternoon....most of the latte spilled onto the mat....that was the good part....she had taken it and put into to a plastic bag....the rest was on the side of the console and some under the seat....the extractor solution with a brush and some clean water, seemed to do the job....then the shop vac and it looked great....the smell still kind of lingered a bit but I expected that.....I did a quick S&W on the rest of the car and turned in back with no charge....I have the car this weekend for a wash & wax....so I decided to lump that all together....this is 4th time that I have cleaned this car in the last 5 weeks....they are becoming a real steady customer

Do you have a Ozone machine or did you use one of those disposable type one time ozone bombs? I have always wanted to try those on some cars that have some just horid smells, and was curious on how good they worked.

I've been doing his cars for two years, but recently I told him that I do wash & waxes as well....that said he is about once every 2 to 3 weeks....what I did was come close to the wash he gets at the local car wash that he knows is not doing the car any good...so with my pickup and delivery it was a no brainier for him to sign on

I have two bombs here and they work great!..IMO...the problem with this was I couldn't get the rug real dry so that was the source of the smell....again very faint....I ran the floor heater for a while, while I was doing the S&W....the mat I left in the trunk and told her to leave it in the house over night and that would be dry by morning

That's funny its a nice car to drive, but his GF used my 540 to come home in last night and she said she really liked the car....the e55 AMG is a real solid car on the road you can feel it...and I've never left town

do the ozone bombs leave a residue of any type?
 
Once you've really cleaned the source use Odor Terminator from Automotive International.
Mist the entire car, it must make contact with surfaces to be effective.

It is the one product in our Shop that is truly unique. Can't work without it.

This is what Folex is in many cases...it alters the proteins that cause the smell....thanks for the link those are always useful
