Reminder: Pictures in signature still NOT allowed

Apparently, the new forum software has an option to include a signature picture. PLEASE DON'T. Pictures in signatures are disallowed both the save on bandwidth, and to cut down on clutter in the threads.

If you've set up a signature picture and it disappears, that was probably my doing. I'll ask DB if the entire feature can be disabled so new members don't get the wrong idea, but in the meantime, I'll clean up any that I run across.

Thanks!

Autopia was only my second internet forum (after MOL), I and LOVE the limits on sigs. Going to some of the other forums that are occasionally linked here is like walking into an opressively loud nightclub.

Come on, who are you kidding? You've never been to a night club before.

The louder the nightclub, the hotter the women--a well-established correlation. Not to imply I don't want limits on sigs or anything..

THANK YOU!!! I really hate that feature on other forums, the clutter is very distracting.

Definitely agree 100% I am on a few car club forums and I can never tell where a post starts and a sig finishes, this setup is much better on my eyes, although the forum looks different since I was on last.

No need for apologies, guys, but thanks for understanding.

While we're on the topic of signatures, the other main "restriction" is to keep your signature down to three lines of text. Just a reminder for our new crop of "spring" members . . .

Thanks!

Would it hurt to implement a policy for your 'own' hosted sig's ? So it wouldn't effect autopia's bandwidth at all?

Or is HTML enabled in the Signature? If it is then one could just drop a line of html to their picture hosted and be done with it.

If you do allow it,.. maybe limit it to something like w=500 h=150 - Or if you want to get real stingy, be like CL and limit to w=300 h=100

Let me know.. (either way its no big deal)

you guys do realize that those other forums should allow you to 'hide sigs' of other users, Setting and Options -> Edit Options -> Thread Display Options -> Visible Port Elements -> Show Signatures. one of the first things i do after joining a forum is to uncheck this item.

So is Autopia completely against a 500x100 signature? Personally, I'd rather have a signature which would have a picture than an avatar.

Oh, you're right, it must have been when I was dreaming I was you

I was going to nightclubs before you were born.

Wait wait, nightclubs are cool? I must have missed that memo... :p

And to stay on topic, I quite enjoy a forum that doesn't have pics in the sigs. Go mods!
