"Luck" Residue of design
This car belongs to a regular client of mine. He just got the car from his Father and the car has 200,000 miles on it. It rained both times I was over to work on this car. Today I was just able to get a coat of wax on it after doing the finish pass. One more trip over to do a second coat of wax and final wipedown and get the wheels polished. I have 2 other vehicles to get done for him so another trip is scheduled anyway.

The process was as follows.

Wash with Meg's Hyper Wash

Wheels cleaned with PB S&R

Clay with Clay Magic Blue PB S&G as lube

PB Pro Polish on Purple foamed wool pad using Makita rotary

PB Trim restorer applied using 1" solvent proof paint brush

PB SSR1 on PB red VC finish pad using Flex 3401

This is where it started to rain again so I quickly applied a coat of Collinite #845. I intend to apply a second coat apon my return because I wasn't able to do the roof because it was raining too hard.

Very nice you did that much correction with the Pro Polish and the wool pad? I need to bust out my wool pad bought one but havn't used it yet. Granted I only have a PC but looks like the purple pad gets down to business quicker!
 
that is a pretty damn good finish with ssr1 !!!! must be because of the flex...

i highly doubt anyone could get these results with a PC like I have ...

im still trying to master using the PFW with the SSR2.5 and i feel it clumps up the wool and dries it all hard and stuff ... is it supposed to do that with any polish ?


and wait i thought ssr1 was = to pro polish and if u used both it goes SSR then the polish after, then LSP ?

Ryan, IMHO, PFW + PC does not compute. Consider the length of fiber on the wool pad driven by the oscillating action of the DA. The PFW will sort of mush around on the paint, unable to get a "bite." I think the PFW is intended for use on a rotary.

Thanks to all of you for the compliments. The PFW works great with the rotary but I have never tried or would not want to try in on a PC except to maybe apply an LSP with it such as a sealant. Pro Polish can achieve great results with the right pad whether you want to cut or finish.

I stand corrected, guys. Autogeek says that the Lake Country Purple Foamed Wool pad is for use on a Rotary or DA. However, my statement above describes my experience with the PFW + DA. Maybe I'm also doing something wrong.

Thanks for the compliment, The SSR 1 is a diminishing finishing polish that works for a long time even in direct sunlight which is where I always work. SSR 1 (the yellow stuff) works longer than PP so it can be broken down and gloss up the paint IMO just as well if not better than PP. There were significant buffer trails left behind by the PFW so I primed the pad (K.B. method) and worked the SSR 1 until it dissapeared and the correction and jeweling was accomplished with the Flex and red VC finishing pad.

You may be disappointed I was.
I can see it working on a rotary but I tried it on my PC and it did nothing I switched to foam to get the scratches out.
