Red Robin

Bottomless fries were good. But $30 for 2 burgers and fries, water/soda, we though was a bit much.
It is expensive to eat out these days, no matter where you go, but especially sit-down-and-dine-in places.

Even at "fast food" chains like 5-Guys and a Burger, it is still $20.00 (US) for a similar meal as noted above.

If you ever get to Green Bay WI, for a Packer game or you`re just in the area, go to Krolls West just west of Lambeau Stadium for a burger OR my favorite, The Drift Inn Bar-n-Grill off of South Ashland Avenue across from the Brown County fairgrounds in northern West DePere. Neither place is cheap (comparable to chain sit-down places), but the burgers are to die for.
I prefer mom-and-pop sit-down restaurants or good bar-and-grill places (and Wisconsin has a lot of them, with some of the best in small out-of-the-way towns) to food chains.

Speaking of food prices, Friday-night perch-or-walleye fish fries are a staple in Wisconsin year-round and not just at Easter Lent time (thanks to the large population of Catholics in this state). Those have gone up to $14.00 to $19.00 a plate and when you factor in drinks, even sodas, it`s $35.00 for the two of you (or more!) You "could" substitute a different type of fish (like cod) to save some money, but it sure does NOT taste the same. Guess I am spoiled.

Worst meal I`ve ever eaten in my life was at a new Culver`s near our place. The one and only time I actually went on line to complain about a food establishment`s business to their corporate office. They never responded.

Sorry to hear. We love the one in our town. The funny thing about 5Guys is that my wife only gets their Hotdogs.

There was a Red Robin in San Marcos when I was going to college there. They used to just give out free appetizer coupons to get people in there. The steak and chicken nachos were pretty good. Funny thing about this specific locations is they went out of business and they were in a very prime spot for a college town. Then another restaurant opened up in that exact same area and you have a hard time even parking on the property now. I kind of like their whiskey river bbq burger but it`s nothing special. I think chili`s has better burgers but I`m more of a fan of making my own hamburger, personally.

You never know, it may have been a one time thing but sadly I couldn`t find the nerve to try it again. 5 Guys is right across the parking lot from Culver`s, I don`t eat there either for pretty much the same reasons others have have expressed in this thread. They serve a what I would call a gut buster hamburger (lots of grease). It feels like cement in my stomach, fries are pretty much the same, just greasy. I liked it their burger while I was eating it but I didn`t like how I felt afterwords. Neither of these two hamburger joints would make my top 10. ;)

Royal Red Robin, burger with an egg and bacon. 5 guys is greasy an good but feel it`s little pricey.

I like Red Robin, but like others have said, it`s a lot of money for a hamburger. Just went to a place near my daughters college in NJ called Nifty Fifties.....excellent burgers, over 100 varieties of milk shakes.

Oh yeah, egg on a burger is awesome. If you haven`t tried it, and you like eggs, you must. The trick is finding a place that can pull it off. Red Robin and many other chains just have people that don`t care about cooking.

If I want a really good burger, I go to a place called Flip Side, local grass fed beef about same price as red robin but way better quality and that`s all the specialize in and good selection of taps or i walk next door after to World of Beer for some adult beverages

As for chain burger places, a "Freddy`s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers" recently opened near us. We like the burgers (very thin, like Steak N Shake), and the fries are good, but the onion rings are some of the best I have every had. Their custard is from a soft-serve machine, but tastes fine in a shake.
Lots of local places to get a good burger here in O-Town, from hole-in-the-wall to way upscale.

And now I am hungry....

Freddy`s is pretty good. They had a place in Wichita called Spangles right next to it. They had a 10 patty burger you could get at a drive-thru. Pretty ridiculous but they`re food was pretty good for fast food. Theyre breakfast was really good.
