Bottomless fries were good. But $30 for 2 burgers and fries, water/soda, we though was a bit much.
It is expensive to eat out these days, no matter where you go, but especially sit-down-and-dine-in places.
Even at "fast food" chains like
5-Guys and a Burger, it is still $20.00 (US) for a similar meal as noted above.
If you ever get to Green Bay WI, for a Packer game or you`re just in the area, go to
Krolls West just west of Lambeau Stadium for a burger OR my favorite,
The Drift Inn Bar-n-Grill off of South Ashland Avenue across from the Brown County fairgrounds in northern West DePere. Neither place is cheap (comparable to chain sit-down places), but the burgers are to die for.
I prefer mom-and-pop sit-down restaurants or good bar-and-grill places (and Wisconsin has a lot of them, with some of the best in small out-of-the-way towns) to food chains.
Speaking of food prices, Friday-night perch-or-walleye fish fries are a staple in Wisconsin year-round and not just at Easter Lent time (thanks to the large population of Catholics in this state). Those have gone up to $14.00 to $19.00 a plate and when you factor in drinks, even sodas, it`s $35.00 for the two of you (or more!) You "could" substitute a different type of fish (like cod) to save some money, but it sure does NOT taste the same. Guess I am spoiled.
