blkZ28Conv- Be careful using that Vector. NOT wanting to get into a flame war with Vector-fans, I still want to point out that it does NOT (*as I understand it, no first-hand experience*) maintain a constant speed under load. I hear it slows down under load and that wouldn't work for *ME* as I want to have as much control over a rotary as I possibly can. A few hunderd rpms can make a BIG difference. I REALLY don't mean to rain on the parade here, but be sure you really LIKE it during your return-privilege timeframe. I figure that even though my Makita doesn't get much use, the price difference was pretty insignificant compared to having to pay a more experienced operator (or a paint shop!) to fix something.
I totally agree Accumulator. I have been going back-and- forth with the decision to go with something less than the best. I normally believe in a one time good purchase than pinching pennies only to find out that I should have gone the other route in the first place. Especially since Bret has offered to ship Makita's ($119) from his local CostCo. I do have an escape clause with CMA. They stated that my unit would arrive today at their office and also ship today. I have not read any really bad reviews on this unit on this forum ( searched back ~ a year). CMA has always been good to me, so if this item does not live up to my minimal paint correction needs, I will return it.
blkZ28Conv- OK, cool. Just don't do as I have done with other stuff and leave it on the shelf until the grace period expires!
Heh heh, when I saw the first line of your post "I totally agree Accumulator", at first, I thought you were referring to my bit about being "negative/contrary"
I would definetely go with dewalt that bretfaz will get for you. You will not even come close to that price for a high quality brand name tool. I debated over getting an el cheapo for awhile too but ultimately decided on the makita. BTW harbor freight sucks!

I will know this weekend if it arrives by Friday and would not hesitate to return it. I am trusting CMA's review and other Autopian Vector user accounts.
The sad part is that I am supporting the exodus of American jobs. The cost differential of producing a product in China is about 1/30th of the cost of the same product produced here (USA). This excludes the initial R&D cost. That is why a inexpensive Chinese product can possibly be a quality piece at 10% (wholesale) of the USA piece. Then again QC may not be as strict as quality products like PC, Makita, and DeWalt and every batch of Vector units maybe a shot in the dark on quality.:nixweiss
I'll post my isolated non-comparison review of the Vector after a few uses.

And - oddly, when I go onto Lowe's web site, they don't list the PC Random Orbit anymore. Do they still carry it? I know that's where my wife bought mine for Christmas.
