Recent details v.First rotary job!

pigeonbus: I appear to be getting about .20 oz per application. I have put 5 coats between various cars and I have used about an ounce. With the new 32oz pricing that Pakshak and CMA will have, it's $49.99 for 32 oz. So if my math serves me correctly, that's about .31 cents an application! Not bad in my book! That's about 180 coats per 32 oz bottle.



1 Clean WS6: Thanks. Wait until I get it in good weather trim. I don't think a lot of you guys have seen it that way. She has some pretty nice wheels that I got for her a while back. Coddingtons 20's and 19's!:D I can't wait to get them back on, I'm tired of winter trim!



SilvaBimma: Girlfriend and Dad's car in a day. I did mine about about a week ago! The rotary is incredible when you get the hang of it! It really speeds up the process in it's effectiveness. I did a test on the rear quarter panel where I waited for the sun to come out to see the swirls really well. I then went to work on it with the rotary @ 1500 RPM and a polishing pad, Worked it in half the time I would with a PC and cutting pad, and the results were much better. With the Taurus the swirls are a little hard to get out with a PC. The rotary knocked the swirls out so easy, and they were gone. Menzerna PO106 is like #80 in cut.



I love the Adam's products. And Adam himself is one of the nicest guys in the game. Menzerna is my favorite as far as polishes and sealant. And I love the PB's stuff for cleaning, washing, and wheel sealant. One of the best things I have found was using a mix of PB's and Adam's car wash, incredible suds and cleaning ability! Here's a list of goodies I use from each company.



--Adam's Detail spray, brilliant spray glaze, Car wash, wash pads and bucket w/Grit guard, V.R.T



--Menzerna PO106, PO85RD, IP, FP II, FTG, FMJ



--Poorboy's wheel sealant, APC (10:1), SS&S, Bug squash

I can't find anything to "suggest" about any of that work! Outstanding, especially given your first shot at the rotary. Did you have much problem with the sling? That was the biggest part of the learning curve with my Makita.



Rotary with a polishing pad is truly amazing once you get the hang of it, and it looks like you did right off the bat:xyxthumbs



That color on the Taurus is unbelievable--Honda has done a good job with it, too.

I did have some slinging problems on the first panel or two. But I quickly figured out what I was doing wrong with it and corrected the problem. And using the concaved LC pads made it a little easier as well! However, I did have some problems with dusting, but I think I didn't clean the pads thoroughly after the last time I used them! Thanks for the nice words Dan!!
 
How long have you used a PC? Thinking of a rotary for summer, but don't know if its worth the investment :(

I have been using the PC for about 8-10 months now. I'm about 1 year into being a clean car freak. As far as a rotary being a good investment, I would say it is depending on what you want to do. I found it amazing at removing swirls with so much ease. It would have taken a 2 step polish to get the swirls out on the Taurus. But with the rotary I can use a less aggressive product and remove them in one step. And with using Menzerna polishes, I can go straight to my LSP, and that I like! So yes, I would get one this summer if I was you. But you should do your research before using it. I did a lot of thinking before I did this. I tried it a couple of weeks ago and the machine just got away from me a little and scared me. But switching to the side handle for me worked a lot better as far as controlling the machine! Do it, I use the Makita 9227 w/LC concaved pads!

You and many others are the reason I tried the rotary. Some of the results and how little time it takes to prep a car with a rotary were the reasons for trying it. And I can't wait to try some more cars out with it! I just wish you lived closer so I could get some tips and techniques from you! Heck, maybe I'll just fly down and check out your work!:p

Results like that are what made me finally pull the trigger and get a rotary. (I blame GSRstilez, too. :D)



Now if the pads and backing plate would just hurry up and get here. And oh, yeah, I need to find something called . . . . courage . . . to actually fire it up. :shocked

your details are looking better and better every time i see pictures of them! I might have to come up and learn a thing or two from you!



Did you have to spend much time taping up trim, windows, and wiper blades? Or did you clean those parts up after polishing? How much sling/splattering did you experience?
