Recent Detail: 94 Black NSX

General Info

A long time since I’ve posted a Detail. Today was fun, but grueling. Probably will never buy a black car again.

Vehicle
94 Black NSX – Heavy Swirls/Etching/Marring. At first I thought this car would be a breeze to polish, but wow 12 years takes it toll. I ended up doing some intensive paint work.

Process

Exterior
Wash – Optimum NRS
Clay – Optimum Yellow
Compound – Opt Hyper Compound
Polish – Opt Polish x 2
Sealed with Adam’s Brilliance Glaze / Meg’s #21 / DG #951 Aquawax
Windows w/ DG Rain Repellant Cleaner
Wheels w/ Adam’s #1 Metal Polish + Aquawax

Result
Paint has an amazing Depth/Gloss. However, even compounding (Causing my first ever MicroMarring) couldn’t hit a nail against the marring on this car. I think Wetsanding/Removing quite a lot of the paint would fix 20% of the Result. Paint life in the end is more important. Especially for 12 years or more.

Mgm: Dang that is a really thorough paint process, definitely fits the car.

Sparkie: Cleaning/Polishing the rims were a joke, there was barely any residue or brake dust on the wheels. I ended just using DG Aquawax on the wheels since they didn't need any work.

I swear black cars that go past 10 years are just a nightmare. This paint was truly ridiculous to work on.

To bad those pedals are so damn annoying to use! Shoot unbelievable how they designed them. Otherwise that car can fly!
