The original "Scotch" tape was Scotch Cellophane Tape.
They followed that with Scotch Transparent Tape.
I'm sure other variations exist, but that's the two I remember.

Would Catepiller or Cat qualify? Aside from the insect what do you think of... dozer,a track vehicle with a blade that moves dirt, right?

Well, there are a lot of other companies that make dozers. Inside the construction field they make a designation of a Cat dozer, John Deere dozer, Euclid dozer, Yet someone outside the construction field usually says, "Cat" meaning a dozer.

I am just an old Cat skinner. Meaning dozer operator which I usually just say, Dirt Head.

That was probably a very good marketing decision.
I doubt that the true name, "acetylsalicylic acid", would have caught on nearly as well as aspirin has.
